In a significant advancement for marine technology, NovAtel, a part of Hexagon, has unveiled the GAJT-410MS, a state-of-the-art GPS Anti-Jam Technology device. This innovation addresses the growing concerns of radio frequency interference and jamming that affect marine environments worldwide. Designed with a focus on low size, weight, and power (SWaP), the GAJT-410MS is tailored to protect both civilian and military maritime operations from disruptive interference. Additionally, it is equipped with jammer direction-finding capabilities, enhancing situational awareness for marine operators.
Interference, whether accidental or deliberate, presents a formidable challenge to maritime operations. The commercial marine industry, including sectors like shipping, tankers, and bulk carriers, is increasingly susceptible to interference that compromises navigation systems and cybersecurity. Without dependable positioning, vessels risk straying off course, posing threats to the vessel, crew, and cargo. Nearshore activities such as surveying, construction, and piloting require reliable positioning to maintain seamless operations in crowded waterways and radio frequency environments. By reducing interference and employing jammer direction-finding for improved situational awareness, users can ensure secure positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) while identifying and mitigating risks from interference sources.
The GAJT-410MS provides comprehensive protection across multiple bands, including GPS L1 and L2, Galileo E1, QZSS L1 and L2, and SBAS L1, effectively countering both intentional and unintentional interference. In instances of jamming, the device's direction-finding capabilities enhance situational awareness by pinpointing and locating the source of jamming signals. This commercial off-the-shelf, non-ITAR solution is easy to install or retrofit onto existing fleets, guaranteeing assured PNT for uninterrupted operations, cybersecurity, and safe navigation at sea.
"As global threats from interference and jamming continue to rise, assured navigation and cybersecurity defenses are becoming increasingly vital for marine users," commented Dr. David Russell, marine segment portfolio manager for Hexagon’s Autonomy & Positioning division. "The GAJT-410MS is an anti-jam solution crafted to shield vessels from interference and jamming disruptions, ensuring continuous operations regardless of where your application takes you. With GAJT, your position, navigation, and timing are safeguarded and assured."
