Grounding bulkhead frames

Solve a dozen different common station problems and add a truly professional touch to the facility with an I.C.E. bulkhead frame.  A common-point grounding scheme established by a bulkhead adds control to leakage radiation of transmitted signals, provides an interception point for lightning or other transient currents and introduces a low inductance method of bringing filter cases to ground potential.

These frames are 1/8" thick natural aluminum 3003-1414 material and available in a variety of sizes. Each is outfitted with a clamp fitting on the bottom for attaching heavy cable (our 358-Series precut cables are snug-fit) or up to 1/2" ground rod, and the rest of the frame is undrilled. Arrange lightning arrestors, filters, switches, or other important station hardware in the most appropriate manner to mate properly with station wiring and drill your own mounting holes easily and quickly.

Bulkhead panels may be mounted flat against a rear surface (wall) or in just about any other convenient way so long as bulkhead is close to earthen entry point. Panels allow high-integrity grounding of incoming or outgoing lines between equipment and outside destinations.

Units are shipped in flat package with clamp accessory and conductive anti-oxidant compound.

For a nominal charge our mechanical staff will pre-drill and mount I.C.E. products to any bulkhead. Tell your sales representative what products to mount and the general layout you'll need - shipped pre-fitted as a single unit.

Equipment bus frame

Most modem communication facilities contain a variety of equipment and attachment accessories. Lightning protection and resistance to interference is best accomplished by common-point grounding of all equally-referenced metal chassis. Here's a neat, organized and professional method of interconnecting various chassis cases to a master station bus frame with multiple connection points. Takes up to #4 THW wire or smaller, and works well with braid-type conductors.

Bus frames are now available in three distinct sizes and are bored on the ends with holes to mount to flat surface (table top, wall or floor). Each has 9/32" holes at 3" intervals through the front horizontally with stainless steel or brass set screws and allowance for multiple equipment connections to a main ground bus. Frames are 3/4" solid aluminum or brass material, sanding textured, and are supplied with all attachment and mounting hardware.

New model 353B is 19" standard size for relay racks and may be mounted anywhere on the rack (bottom, top, etc) Holes are places to mate perfectly with rack holes but no mounting hardware is supplied (since we never know the type of hardware used with your rack assembly), but all set screws are included.

Need longer versions for special applications? Model 353 series are available in lengths up to six feet long in a single piece, and any number of attachment holes may be inserted. Ask you're sales representative for special quotations. All UPS shippable.

Solid brass ground ross

Model 355 Series ground rods are solid free-spinning hardened brass. Extremely hard and durable, these rods may be force-driven like steel-core rods but are lifetime permanent. No rust, no corrosion, and no loss of contact even in harsh soils or environments.

Supplied in three different diameters, rods are 6 feet in length and all UPS shippable. Each is flat on one end but chamfered to prevent "mushrooming" and sharpened to a point on the other for easy driving.

Free-spinning brass is an extrusion alloy of copper, tin, and lead manufactured by Bridgeport Brass Co. in Indianapolis.

Order Model Type Price
355 3/8" size, 6' length $14.00
355A 1/2" size, 6' length $20.00
355B 5/8" size, 6' length $29.00

Grounding cables

These 358 Series Grounding Cables are stranded #4 THW copper jacketed cable. Ready for installation and perfect fitting for most I.C.E. blocks and frames, these cables are available in both precut and custom sizes (you specify the length).

Ideal for serious station owners and operators, cables are designed for heavy-duty, permanent applications where direct lightning bolt "hits" are either expected or feared. Suitable for tower grounding, bulkhead attachment, relay rack grounding, etc.
